Izhora Hydrosystems at the NEVA 2023 Exhibition

Izhora Hydrosystems exhibition stand at the NEVA 2023

From September 18-21, Izhora Hydrosystems participated in the NEVA 2023 exhibition. This marked the company’s exhibition debut, which proved to be highly successful.

The company’s results at the exhibition were the outcome of the work of a professional team united by a common goal — to create high-quality Russian industrial equipment for applications extending far beyond the shipbuilding industry.

The team of Izhora Hydrosystems LLC successfully presented its engineering and completed projects across multiple sectors:

  • Deck cranes, winches, windlasses, ramps, shell doors, watertight closures, and other ship equipment;
A telescopic knuckle-boom crane with a 20-meter outreach and an 18-ton lifting capacity, enabling ship-to-ship cargo transfer in tracking mode

The NEVA 2023 exhibition became an effective platform enabling the company to present itself and showcase its products to a wide range of industry stakeholders — from students of maritime institutions to executives of major shipbuilding companies and industry associations.

One of the company’s key priorities is the replacement of imported marine launch and recovery systems (LARS) with domestic solutions.

For example, there was keen interest in the operational model of the A-LARS (Automatic Launch and Recovery System) presented at the stand, designed for the launching and recovery of lifeboats and rescue crafts, fast patrol boats, or commander’s launches. This system is equipped with a Constant Tension (CT) mode developed by Izhora Hydrosystems LLC for the safe and secure recovery of the craft from the wave crest.

The need to replace imported equipment with domestic solutions was a recurring theme throughout the exhibition. For many years, Russian shipbuilding depended heavily on foreign suppliers. Recent circumstances forced shipbuilders, shipowners, and design bureaus to urgently look for domestic companies capable of developing and manufacturing high-quality equipment equivalent — or superior — to imported systems.

Furthermore, for military applications, superiority is not merely desirable but mandatory. Previously, imported systems were delivered with type-approval certificates from foreign classification societies such as DNV. Russian Navy procurement, however, requires compliance not only with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) but also with the strict technical regulations of the Main Military Technical Directorate of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation — standards which are significantly more demanding. Products by Izhora Hydrosystems LLC have repeatedly passed all acceptance procedures and have been installed on Russian Navy vessels as replacements for imported systems.

Participation in the exhibition brought the company not only verbal agreements and new business contacts — which will certainly result in future projects — but also concrete outcomes. Cooperation agreements were signed with the following organizations:

  • JSC «OSK-Technologies» became our partner in domestic replacement of imported docking equipment and in the development of LARS for research vehicles and USVs.
  • JSC «Nordic Engineering» became our partner in domestic replacement of imported LARS for lifeboats and launches.
