Davit for workboats, SWL 700 kg (Technical supply specification)

1. General Data

The workboat davit operates reliably in marine environments under the following conditions:

  • Ambient air temperature: +30°C with 60% relative humidity in summer, and -23°C with 85% relative humidity in winter;
  • Heel: ≤20°;
  • Trim: ≤10°;
  • Climate execution: OM1 per GOST 15150-69;
  • Periodic sea water splashing of components;
  • Shipboard vibration.

2. Purpose

The workboat davit is designed for the launch and recovery of a workboat.

About

Project Overview

Marine Launch and Recovery System for Workboats: When Manual Drive Outperforms Automation

Imagine a vessel in the open sea. A workboat must be deployed, but deck power is lost, or the hydraulics freeze in sub-zero temperatures. This is a familiar challenge for mariners: complex equipment often fails at the worst possible moment.

When Automation Fails

Storms, icing, and salt spray subject marine equipment to extreme duress. Electric winches are vulnerable to moisture, hydraulics are sensitive to cold, and complex electronics can fail from a single minor malfunction. Yet, the boat must be launched quickly and safely, even at vessel heel angles up to 20 degrees.

Until recently, shipowners had to choose between expensive imports and unreliable domestic alternatives. Neither option provided the core requirement: guaranteed operation under all marine conditions.

Sea-Proven Simplicity

Engineers at Izhora Hydrosystems LLC pursued an alternative approach. Our workboat davit is a fully manual mechanism. A worm gear slewing drive and a manual winch eliminate any dependence on electrical power or hydraulics. The system remains operational even when all other deck equipment fails.

With a 700 kg SWL, a 2.4 m outreach, and a 2 m lifting height, the system reliably handles any common type of workboat. At the same time, the unit weighs only 670 kg and features a compact footprint, optimizing available deck space.

Technical Features

The design is rated for operation at vessel heel angles up to 20° and trim angles up to 10°, covering most real-world maritime scenarios. Climate execution OM1 per GOST 15150-69 ensures operational integrity from -23°C to +30°C under any humidity levels and continuous sea water splashing.

The primary factor driving durability is the corrosion protection. Steel components undergo blast cleaning to ISO Sa 2.5 and are treated with a three-layer coating system, achieving a total dry film thickness (DFT) of up to 350 microns. This coating system resists salt exposure and extreme temperature fluctuations.

The scope of supply includes all required components: boom and column steel structures, a driven winch, a slewing bearing, rigging blocks, wire ropes, and a swivel. Delivery includes an RRR (Russian River Register) certificate and a comprehensive documentation package, ranging from the data sheet to the onboard test procedure.

Reliability You Can Touch

The workboat davit from Izhora Hydrosystems LLC represents a case where design simplicity outperforms complex technology. A 12-month warranty and a one-year operational spare parts kit confirm the manufacturer’s confidence in the equipment. At sea, where human safety depends on equipment integrity, this confidence is vital.
