About

Modern Subsea Research Challenges

Modern subsea research requires reliable and safe equipment for the launch and recovery of manned submersibles. A launch and recovery system (LARS) is a key element of such operations, ensuring precise and controlled handling of the submersible in marine environments.

Reliability Under All Conditions

Designed for operations in harsh marine environments, the dual-beam overhead LARS for manned submersibles demonstrates high reliability across a wide temperature range, variable humidity levels, ship motion, and wind loads. This allows the system to operate both in port and in stowed position at sea, ensuring operational stability regardless of external factors.

Primary Purpose

The primary function of the LARS is the safe launch and recovery of a manned submersible, which is critical for deep-sea research, rescue operations, and subsea engineering works. Due to the telescopic design and dual-beam system, the equipment ensures precise positioning and minimizes oscillations during launch and recovery operations.

Manufacturer Expertise and Technology

As the manufacturer of this equipment, Izhora Hydrosystems LLC combines extensive shipbuilding industry experience with advanced engineering solutions to deliver systems compliant with stringent maritime standards. All LARS assemblies and mechanisms are rated for long-term operation under harsh conditions, and the scope of supply includes all components required for commissioning and safe maintenance.

Operational Advantages

The application of a telescopic LARS ensures high safety levels for the crew and the submersible. It optimizes underwater vehicle operations, reduces launch and recovery cycle times, and minimizes the risk of damage. Such solutions provide new capabilities for subsea research and engineering operations in marine environments, increasing predictability and efficiency.
