1. General Information (Operating Conditions)

The marine ramp is designed for operation on a medium-haul, zero-emission electric passenger/vehicle ferry.

The equipment ensures reliable operation under shipboard vibration and intermittent sea water splashing.

Ambient air temperature:

  • On deck: –20°C to +40°C
  • In ship spaces: 0°C to +40°C

The design ensures safe operation at a vessel heel angle of not less than 6° and a trim of not less than 3°.

2. Purpose

The hydraulic marine ramp is designed to enable the embarkation and disembarkation of various types of vehicles, as well as passenger transit between the quay and the vessel.

About

Marine Ramps: Key Elements of Vessel Infrastructure

Marine ramps play a critical role in establishing the connection between a vessel and the shore. They enable the transit of vehicles, cargo, and personnel, making them indispensable for the operation of ferries, landing craft, and auxiliary vessels. The quality and performance of the ramp directly determine the efficiency and safety of all loading and discharge operations.

Engineering Precision and Functionality

Modern ramps are engineered to match specific vessel designs and operational requirements. The structure must withstand dynamic loads, resist marine corrosion, and operate reliably under all weather conditions. To achieve this, materials are selected to retain structural integrity and strength despite continuous exposure to sea water.

Advanced Manufacturing Solutions

Today, a marine ramp is a sophisticated engineering system rather than a simple steel structure. The integration of hydraulic drives ensures smooth positioning and control, optimizing crew operations. Specialized heavy-duty surface treatments prevent slipping and increase vehicle transit safety.

Operational Role and Efficiency

Reliable ramp performance is essential during maneuvers in adverse weather conditions and when mooring at unequipped shorelines. The speed and safety of cargo handling operations depend entirely on its positioning accuracy and structural stability. Consequently, during vessel design, this equipment is integrated as a core component to optimize overall voyage efficiency.
