1. General Information (Operating Conditions)

The watertight closure operates reliably under marine conditions with:

  • Design ambient air temperature: +45°C at 80% humidity (summer) and -40°C with wind speeds up to 25 m/s at 85% humidity (winter).
  • Seawater temperature: from +32°C to -2°C respectively.
  • Shipboard vibration.
  • Periodic seawater splashing of components.

2. Purpose

The watertight closure is designed to seal hangar openings. The seal tightness ensures weatherproofing and prevents water spray, dust, and environmental elements from entering the hangar, including at static vessel heel angles up to 20° port/starboard and trim angles up to 10° bow/stern at minimum draft.

4. Additional Requirements

  • All electrical equipment has an IP56 protection class.
  • Coating system: the coating system and color shall be agreed upon with the Customer (the applied coating materials are included in the registry of coatings approved for use on Russian Navy surface ships and vessels).
  • All interfaces between the hangar closure control system and connected equipment are documented via paired information and electrical interface protocols developed in accordance with RD V.8824-89.
  • Preservation coatings provide an indoor storage life of 12–18 months.
  • Hydraulic fluid: AUP hydraulic oil.
  • Hydraulic fluid cleanliness class per GOST 17216-71: min. 12.
  • Lubricants used onboard comply with the requirements of GOST RV 50920-2005 “Fuels, oils, lubricants, and special liquids”.
  • Power supply cables are provided with mating connectors.
  • In the event of a main power failure, emergency opening/closing of the hangar closures is provided.
  • The local control station is equipped with an integrated local alarm and indication system.
  • The closure is fitted with position and travel sensors that transmit status signals to the control and monitoring stations.
  • The watertight closure features warning and emergency alarm systems.
  • The closure design includes an interlocking mechanism with the corresponding launch and recovery system (LARS).
  • The watertight closure, along with its mechanisms and auxiliary systems, ensures synchronized operation with the corresponding LARS and facilitates unhindered transfer of rescuees and crew from the deep submergence rescue vehicle (DSRV) to the hyperbaric chamber complex.

  • Provision is made for transmitting a common fault alarm from the LARS to the integrated platform management system (IPMS) and the maritime rescue operation automation suite.
