L-frame hydraulic davit, 16t capacity (Technical supply specification)

1. General Information (Operating Conditions)

The L-frame davit operates reliably under the following sea state conditions:

  • Ambient air temperature: -30 ºC to +35 ºC
  • Water temperature: -2 ºC to +32 ºC
  • Relative humidity: 98% at +35 ºC
  • Shipboard vibration
  • Intermittent sea water splashing of components

The L-frame davit remains fully functional after prolonged exposure to the following stowed (non-operating) conditions:

-Wind load: up to 2000 Pa (200 kgf/m²)

-Ship heel: up to 15° to either side

-Ship trim: up to 5° by bow or stern

-Roll: amplitude up to 40°

-Pitch: amplitude up to 10°

2. Purpose

Interfacing with a winch for launching and recovering equipment over the side.

About

L-Frame Davit: Engineering Solution for Maritime Applications

New Challenges for Deck Equipment

Modern vessels operate in highly volatile environments characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations, high humidity, sea spray, vessel motions, and structural vibrations. These factors impose stringent requirements on open-deck machinery. The L-frame davit addresses these challenges by combining structural stability, operational flexibility, and enhanced safety during over-the-side operations.

Advantages of the L-Frame Configuration

The L-frame geometry optimizes outboard reach and ensures seamless launching and recovery of marine instruments and subsea devices. This configuration provides the operator with comprehensive process control, enabling safe deployment even during high dynamic vessel motions.

A key design feature is the ability to reeve the umbilical/cable through the system without disconnecting the termination blocks or connectors. This minimizes downtime, reduces the risk of equipment damage, and ensures highly predictable operations.

Control Systems Engineered for Field Operations

Open-deck operations require both structural durability and ergonomic control systems. A portable, backpack-type control pendant allows the operator to select the safest and most advantageous vantage point during handling operations. Integrated deck lighting ensures safe and efficient task execution at night or during restricted visibility.

An auxiliary manual emergency drive is integrated for operation during total loss of power. This backup system enables the operator to safely stow the equipment, mitigating risk to the crew and ensuring uninterrupted vessel operations.

Comprehensive Scope of Supply

The L-frame davit is delivered as a turnkey package ready for integration. The scope of supply includes the control interfaces, shipboard connection systems, installation hardware, and comprehensive technical documentation to facilitate rapid commissioning and training. This complete integration package streamlines shipboard installation and minimizes downtime prior to initial deployment.

Manufacturing Approach and Standards

The L-frame davit is manufactured by Izhorskie Hydrosystems LLC (i-hydro.ru), where primary emphasis is placed on material reliability and compliance with maritime operational requirements. The manufacturing cycle is optimized for series production across various vessel classes, while the quality management system ensures consistent equipment performance from batch to batch.

Deployment in the Modern Fleet

The engineering principles integrated into the L-frame davit ensure operational efficiency and long-term durability in severe marine environments. The system is deployed across diverse vessel types as an integral component of deck handling systems, supporting routine launch and recovery operations.
