1. General Information (Operating Conditions)

The marine crane-manipulator ensures reliable performance under offshore and marine environmental conditions:

  • Ambient air temperature: +25°C with 80% relative humidity in summer; -30°C with wind speeds up to 25 m/s and 85% relative humidity in winter.
  • Seawater temperature: From -2°C to +32°C.
  • Vibration: Compliance with onboard hull vibration levels.
  • Exposure: Periodic seawater splashing and spray on components.
  • Heel: Up to 5° port or starboard.
  • Trim: Up to 2° bow or stern.

2. Purpose

The marine crane-manipulator is designed for installation on various vessel types to perform lifting operations, including handling general cargo, ship stores, and provisions. The crane ensures safe operations at static list angles up to 5° port/starboard and trim up to 2° bow/stern at minimum vessel draft.

Capabilities:

  • Onboard cargo loading and discharging with a capacity up to 5 t at 15 m outreach.
  • Container handling operations.
  • Subsea lifting operations to recover cargo and underwater equipment (unmanned assets, excluding subsea operations support).

About

Marine Knuckle Boom Cranes: Modern Solutions for Maritime Operations

The marine knuckle boom crane is specialized lifting equipment engineered for installation on various vessel types. It handles a wide range of operations, from loading provisions and stores to lifting heavy cargo and equipment from quaysides or the water. The crane structure is fully adapted to continuous marine environments, ensuring stable performance even under harsh operating conditions.

Design Features and Application

Modern marine knuckle boom cranes feature high maneuverability and precise load positioning. Utilizing a slewing column and a telescopic boom system, the equipment provides optimal coverage across deck areas and surrounding waters. This capability is critical for confined onboard spaces requiring precise and safe handling operations.

This equipment is utilized on cargo and auxiliary vessels, as well as on research, fishing, and expedition vessels. The capability to operate under list and trim conditions makes the marine knuckle boom crane a versatile tool for maritime operations.

Operational Advantages

Resistance to environmental exposure is a key advantage of these knuckle boom cranes. They operate reliably across high and low ambient temperatures, high wind speeds, structural vibrations, and continuous seawater exposure. The hydraulic drive system maintains constant operating speeds and smooth movement during heavy load handling.

The compact design prevents interference with other deck equipment, while the optimized layout simplifies maintenance. This makes the marine knuckle boom crane the optimal solution for space-restricted vessels.

Manufacturing and Quality Assurance

Marine knuckle boom cranes are manufactured in compliance with the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RMRS) rules and regulations. Primary focus is placed on hydraulic system reliability, structural steel quality, and corrosion protection.

The equipment is manufactured by Izhora Hydrosystems LLC, a company specialized in the design and supply of marine equipment. All products comply with applicable standards and are delivered with the required certification.

Relevance to the Modern Fleet

Due to their versatility and reliability, marine knuckle boom cranes are utilized on a wide range of vessels, including transport, service, and research fleets. This equipment accelerates loading and discharging processes, enhances operational safety, and automates crew operations.
