About

Precision and Control in Every Operation

A modern mooring winch is a critical mechanism for demanding anchoring and mooring operations. It ensures precise vessel positioning for dredgers or crane vessels through controlled rope tension. Its operation compensates for environmental loads including wind, currents, and waves.

Advanced Tension Control

The core of a modern mooring winch is a variable frequency drive (VFD) system. This technology provides smooth, stepless speed control. The operator can remotely monitor and control the process with high precision, ensuring safe and predictable operations even in harsh conditions.

Marine-Proven Durability

Reliability is the primary requirement for any marine equipment. The mooring winch is engineered to operate under high humidity, temperature fluctuations, and continuous loads. The use of protected components and corrosion-resistant materials guarantees long-term durability. This commitment to quality and operational reliability forms the foundation of manufacturing at Izhora Hydrosystems LLC.

The Intelligent Future of Deck Machinery

Today, the mooring winch integrates into comprehensive vessel control systems. Interface compatibility with navigation equipment enables automation, increasing the overall efficiency and safety of marine operations. This represents the next step in the evolution of deck machinery.

4. Additional Requirements

Duty Cycles and Braking System: The electric motor supports continuous, intermittent periodic, and short-time duty cycles without overload under variable speed conditions. The drive shaft brake provides failsafe braking upon power loss and guarantees drum holding under a static rope load of at least 225 kN.

Spooling Device: The spooling device features a manual disengagement mechanism and position adjustment on the diamond shaft.

Variable Frequency Drive Equipment: To ensure smooth speed control via the variable frequency drive, the winch is equipped with a forced cooling fan (380 V, 50 Hz or 220 V, 50 Hz power supply), winding RTDs for motor overheating protection, and an anti-condensation heater if required.

Control Cabinet Functions: The control cabinet provides:

  • Motor overload protection via circuit breaker.
  • Reversing and smooth speed control via variable frequency drive.
  • Control of the electric motor, cooling fan, anti-condensation heater, and other equipment.
  • Power supply for all winch-mounted equipment.
  • Control mode selection (local / remote).
  • Input signal processing from RTDs and motor overheating protection.
  • Status indication for cabinet and motor power supply, as well as the active control mode.
  • Interface capability for remote control equipment, local emergency stop switch, and wheelhouse ammeter.
  • Motor start interlock when the cooling fan is deactivated.

Remote Control Station Functions: The remote control station provides:

  • Motor start/stop, reversing, and speed control.
  • Brake release and emergency stop.
  • Status indication for power supply and operating mode (payout / haul-in).
  • Data readouts for motor current, wire rope payout length, line speed, and slack rope status.

The remote control station is available in two designs: standalone enclosure (IP22 protection class for dry spaces) or console-mounted module (for integration into the vessel bridge console).
