4. Additional Requirements

4.1 General Provisions

  • The color of the davit system coating system is subject to customer approval.
  • Preservation coatings ensure an indoor storage life of 12–18 months.

4.1.1 Maintenance and Safety Inspections

To ensure safe operation of the system, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

  • The person responsible for the operation and maintenance of the davit system must undergo appropriate training.
  • Periodically inspect the rescue boat and liferaft davit to ensure its operational availability and readiness.
  • To maintain the boat in a state of readiness, the condition of the release hook, stern lashings, and hinge pins must be inspected weekly.
  • Under normal conditions, the chain must be disconnected from the boat to enable its free fall.
  • The roller, release hook, hinge pins, and all sheaves must be lubricated in due time.
  • The boat falls wire rope must be renewed at least once every 4 years.

Wire rope renewal is also required in the following cases:
a) wear of any wire rope section exceeding 10%;

b) reduction of wire rope diameter by 7%;

c) kinking or excessive deformation of the wire rope.

  • Hydraulic oil must be used in strict accordance with the product passport.
  • Hydraulic oil must be renewed annually.
  • The filter element must be cleaned every six months.
  • The responsible person must strictly comply with the operating manual.

4.1.2 Regulatory Compliance

  • The rescue boat and liferaft davit is provided with documentation confirming its compliance with the requirements of the Russian Federation Government Decree No. 719.
  • The rescue boat and its equipment comply with the requirements of the RMRS rules, SOLAS-74, and the LSA Code.
